During the lifetime of many of the citizens of this great country, we have seen a gradual transformation of our society from Judeo-Christian principles to a secular, more permissive society. There are many reasons for this, but I believe one of the underlying causes is that so many parents have failed to exercise some of the most basic principles in parenting their children. This reaches across the full spectrum of responsibilities, including; teaching them what is right and wrong, disciplining the children when they misbehave, loving the children no matter what, and providing a proper role model for them. Parenting can be a joyful, rewarding experience or it can lead to a life of frustration, regrets, and even torment. So, how do parents and soon-to-be parents find the path to that joyful, rewarding experience? Joseph Harris, in this book on Parenting, Gods Way, provides some insights, based on biblical principles, for finding that path. Children are totally dependent on their parents for nurturing, protecting, loving, and training them, especially during their formative years. How is a parent supposed to fulfill this responsibility? Where are the instructions and plan to guide parents in this endeavor? God has provided a blueprint for parenting in His Holy Scriptures. Parenting is a vital and integral part of Gods purpose in creation and He has provided man with the ultimate example in His relationship to man.
